Restoration Facilitators

Adrián Pérez

Adrián Pérez is a guide, healer, and founder of Viajes Conciencia, devoted to creating experiences that reconnect people to the land, spirit, and living Mayan culture. As co-creator of Restore Retreat, he brings over twenty-five years of work across the Yucatán Peninsula, bridging eco-cultural guiding with ancestral medicine and ceremony. His leadership grows from deep roots: a life dedicated to service, community, and the continuity of Indigenous wisdom through respectful, heart-centered exchange.

Of Indigenous and Spanish heritage, Adrián was raised in yoga, meditation, and the spiritual traditions of Mexico. His path led him to Tulum in 2001, where he apprenticed with Mayan elders and was initiated as a curandero, or medicine man; a role grounded in prayer, energy work, and ceremony. Guided by his teachers, he carries this lineage as a bridge between worlds, honoring ancient teachings while sharing them with travelers in ways that are authentic, ethical, and alive.

At Restore Retreat, Adrián serves as a ceremonial guide and cultural ally who opens circles with blessings, leading cenote and jungle journeys, and offering Mayan bodywork rooted in ancestral massage and energy healing. His work is an invitation to experience the depth of Mayan spirituality not as history, but as a living tradition—one that continues to breathe through the land, the people, and every mindful traveler who comes to listen

Cora Bird

Cora Bird is a yoga teacher, functional nutritionist, and holistic health practitioner with over two decades of experience guiding individuals toward balance and vitality. Her work brings together the science of nutrition, the wisdom of the body, and the soul of yoga to create grounded, heart-centered spaces for healing and renewal. As a core collaborator in Restore Retreat, she helps shape experiences where movement, mindfulness, and nourishment become pathways to inner alignment and resilience.

Trained in Hatha, Ashtanga, and Restorative yoga, Cora integrates somatic awareness, breathwork, and trauma-informed care to help participants reconnect to the body’s innate intelligence. Her teaching is both gentle and powerful; rooted in presence, compassion, and deep respect for the nervous system’s rhythm of release and regulation. Each practice becomes a journey home to self, a way to soften tension and restore balance from within.

Grounded in her own lifelong healing path, Cora approaches wellness as an act of listening,to body, nature, and the quiet truth beneath the surface. At Restore Retreat, she guides participants through practices designed to nourish, center, and awaken the wisdom that already lives inside them so that clarity, wholeness, and vitality can naturally emerge.

Abuela Tina Balam

Abuela Tina Balam is one of the last living guardians of the ancient Mayan spiritual lineage in Yucatán. A priestess, healer, and traditional midwife, she carries the wisdom of her ancestors through prayer, herbal medicine, energy work, and Indigenous ceremony. Her late husband, Abuelo Marcos Canché, was a Batab, a spiritual leader and chief among the Mayan people, descended from the noble class of the ancient civilization and bearer of a lineage spanning more than a thousand years. Together, they embodied a sacred form of leadership rooted in humility, integrity, and love.

Today, Abuela Tina continues this lineage as a spiritual matriarch and ceremonial elder. She guides her community and her daughters, the next generation of healers, through daily acts of service and devotion to the land. Her work is not a pursuit of visibility or acclaim but a living prayer of continuity. Through her spiritual son, Adrián Pérez, her teachings are shared beyond her village as an act of preservation rather than performance, ensuring that her ancestral knowledge remains respected, protected, and alive for future generations.

At Restore Retreat, Abuela Tina offers her guidance in this same spirit of reverence. Her presence a transmission; a reminder that true healing begins with relationship to the land, elements, the human heart. By honoring her offerings, participants take part in cultural reciprocity, supporting the empowerment of Indigenous women healers and the continuation of a living lineage. Each encounter becomes a moment of remembrance and renewal, a prayer for dignity, balance, and belonging.

Carrie Montgomery

Carrie Montgomery is a facilitator, conservation leader, and founder of Conscious Journeys, where she brings together decades of experience in ecology, project management, and spiritual practice to design spaces of renewal and connection. As co-creator of Restore Retreat, she weaves her grounding in science with her devotion to the sacred—building bridges between environmental awareness, human well-being, and collective transformation. Her leadership reflects both structure and soul: a deep trust in process, rhythm, and the intelligence of nature.

A lifelong practitioner of yoga and meditation, Carrie integrates multiple modalities into her teaching—Hatha yoga, kriyas, mantra, and breathwork—alongside her greatest loves: song, dance, and embodied movement as emotional expression and spiritual practice. Through voice and rhythm, she invites participants to remember joy as medicine, to feel what has been held too long, and to return to the natural flow of vitality and self-trust.

At Restore Retreat, Carrie guides sessions in vocal activation, music, and movement that open both body and spirit. Her approach is warm, grounded, and deeply human—combining the clarity of a scientist, the heart of a facilitator, and the devotion of a seeker. In her presence, participants find space to soften, express, and remember that healing is not a performance but a rhythm we share with the Earth itself.

Conscious Journeys is the sister company of Viajes Conciencia, founded by husband-and-wife team Adrián Pérez and Carrie Montgomery. Together, they weave over two decades of guiding, healing, and ecological stewardship into transformative travel experiences across the Yucatán Peninsula. Their shared vision is to bridge cultures and awaken consciousness through authentic connection—empowering local families and Indigenous communities, honoring the Earth, and cultivating deep trust with every traveler. Each journey is designed as a healing partnership with place and people—an invitation to restore, expand, and return home to what matters most.

In partnership with Cora Bird, they co-create retreats and healing spaces that integrate Mayan wisdom, somatic practice, and voice activation. Together, they hold grounded, heart-centered containers where movement, ceremony, and nature converge—offering participants renewal, clarity, and the embodied experience of belonging.
